BRFSS TeamAnthony Salisbury - Manager, BRFSS Projects Steven Ishmael - Project Director Wendy Sears - Project Director Anthony Salisbury Manager, BRFSS Projects | Since joining Gilmore in 2004, Anthony has been involved in the management and quality control of both individual projects and the company’s wholly owned data collection center. In both types of roles, his responsibilities have included oversight of Gilmore’s highly respected telephone interviewing procedures. His more than 16 years of experience in telephone technologies as they relate to high-quality survey research have been put to good use in his newest role managing projects Gilmore regularly conducts for the Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance Study. Anthony has a BS from Whitman College with a major in Sociology and a minor in Philosophy. In part due to this philosophic nature, Anthony has reduced his carbon footprint to admirable levels: He not only bicycles to work (in all seasons!) but, vacations for Anthony, his wife and three kids often include volunteer labor for environmentally sensitive farming operations. Truly, this is a man who has applied his beliefs to everyday life.
| Steven Ishmael Project Director
| As a Project Director on the Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance Studies, Steven is primarily responsible for the Washington state data collection, including project planning and implementation, monitoring progress, quality control, and coordination of coding, data entry, and data processing; all critical steps given the stringent quality controls and protocols which must be followed. In addition, Steven has managed BRFSS studies investigating the cell-phone only households in Washington and Louisiana. Joining Gilmore in 2006, Steven was promoted to his present position in 2007. He graduated from the University of Washington with a BA degree in Political Science. Perhaps to balance the level of careful control that Steven requires in his day job, he is a fan of “extreme pursuits” in his spare time. Whether it is a day of bungee jumping, responding to the culinary dare of eating a scorpion or simply making “wicked bad” chocolate cookies, Steven is up to the challenge.
| Wendy Sears Project Director
| As a Project Director on the Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance Studies, Wendy is responsible for managing data collection and has primary responsibility for the Oregon and Alaska portions of the study. Recently she coordinated the special over-sample of data collection including interviews in Mandarin, Cantonese, Vietnamese, Korean and English. Wendy joined the company in 2005 bringing with her, experience in marketing research at two other firms. Her initial introduction into the industry was as a telephone interviewer and focus group recruiter while a student at the University of Washington. She graduated from there with a BA in Business and a focus in Marketing. Wendy applies the same level of enthusiasm to her favorite spare time activities as she does to her responsibilities on the BRFSS team. She loves new experiences so you’ll find her running marathons, hang gliding or, most often, traveling the world. In fact, Wendy once sold her prized motorcycle in order to fund her next travel adventure.
